Description

Salsa in the Streets was born from my love for dance, community, and deep connection to my Puerto Rican heritage. Inspired by the vibrant aesthetics of Puerto Rican culture from the 1950s to the 1980s, I immersed myself in research, drawing from the legacy of Boricua artists who championed their communities
through art.

Motivated by these creative pioneers, I designed a series of vibrant posters that energized the dance scenes in Gainesville and Tampa, Florida. This evolved into a complete design system that is still in use, including social media content and T-shirt designs, drawing hundreds of attendees to weekly events.

My work on this project led to recognition at the 2022 American Advertising Awards, where I won a Student Gold ADDY Award and was a Best in Show finalist. Salsa in the Streets celebrates the power of dance, community resilience, and the transformative impact of art, honoring Puerto Rico’s rich cultural heritage with every beat and step.
